2018-03-28: The free hosting portal I run this site on has sent me a notice that the SQL database was nearing its size limit. The culprit was the guestbook and, the guestbook contents being comprised of a very few posts by LovePimple, Nania Francesco Antonio, Squxe and Christian Martelock from 2007, then several tens thousand spam posts, I've decided to turn the guestbook off. This site is now effectively read-only, no new content will be added. I've moved to other hobbies long ago, but the Encode's Forum and the Large Text Compression Benchmark are still very much alive; go and pay them a visit (if you don't already do that)! Thank you, compression fans, for making this site possible, it's been a great ride!

2008-07-04: There hasn't been much development on any part of the site, with honorable exception of dynamic benchmark. There isn't much of interest in rest of the pages and I quite neglect them, don't know what was first. There is fresh news, though: LovePimple just released a brand new PexTimer version! Download PexTimer 2.0.
2008-02-03: Dynamic benchmark was again polished a tiny bit, sparing over 100px of height. Instead of complete menu, only two most important lines are displayed. To display rest of the menu, just hover your mouse over the lines. Do the same for hiding it again. If you have any comments/suggestions not only to dynamic benchmark, but also to rest of the site, don't hesitate and drop me a line in guestbook!
2008-01-27: Despite numerous attempts, I wasn't able to completely fix some issues with the dynamic benchmark, namely displaying last page and many issues with displaying of historical entries. Having no other choice, I removed the paging and left everything to display on a single page. This fixed all problems I had - thanks to Nania Francesco Antonio, who posted some results from my benchmark and incidentally revealed it to me. Additionally, I improved the code a tiny bit and removed the limit preventing choosing more than 50 entries (while previous menu allowed only 30), so you can choose to display everything. Another pleasant news is that I uploaded recent jQuery version and it's able to highlight more than 33 rows of dynamic benchmark, which is great! It may be overkill to use something as complex as jQuery for such easy work, but it's pretty fast and still reasonably small. I also made very minor improvements to the rest of the site.
2008-01-11 Benchmark output has gone through complete overhaul - static weekly updated tables have been changed to dynamic one, enabling you to sort data by any criterium you wish. Each column header has been turned into clickable link, second click on the same header will sort the complete list in opposite order. Also there is no "light table" anymore, use "show historic data" switch included in benchmark table instead. There have also been some other small improvements to the site, that will probably go unnoticed (some graphics were fixed/improved).
2007-06-24 Benchmark releasing is put on hiatus for undefined amount of time due to other activities of mine. Sorry.
